Do you remember that moment when your world changed forever?
That moment when you realized that you can and will never be the same again?
What did you learn?
What did you decide?
What limiting beliefs did you create?
And how have you been integrating these into your life?
Just take a moment and think about this.
Even if you feel that you have had your thoughts and feelings all your life, the truth is that they were created at some point in your life.
Chances are that your life would have unfolded in a different way, if those core moments had not taken place.
Think about this for a moment.
Would you agree?
What If Your Trauma Hadn’t Happened?
Then why not take another moment and think about who you could have been if your negative defining moments had never happened.
Just dream out loud.
Take this seriously and be realistic.
The first thing you might notice is that you might have a very vague idea of who you would be.
You might hear yourself say things like “I would be happier” or “I would have more self esteem”.
Maybe you say “I would not be overweight” or “I would be making more money.”
But what exactly does this mean?
We usually know which struggles are connected to our negative memories.
And we believe that we would be free of these issues and everything in our life would automatically be better.
But how do we know this?
How would it be?
The Decision To Change
The truth is, that things don’t change because of the absence of trauma.
Things change when we make a decision to change.
Things change when we set a goal that feels positive, desirable, obtainable and realistic.
Things change when we decide to do what it takes to get what we want.
Things change when we stop hiding behind trauma, and begin to live our dreams, one step at a time.
Are You Hiding Behind Trauma?
Hiding behind trauma sounds harsh, I know.
And from coaching thousands of people I know how very traumatic life can be.
Trust me, I have heard some of the most outrageous life stories, and have worked with many extremely traumatized people in my life.
But I also know that the most successful people are traumatized as well.
I even believe that there is not a should walking on planet earth that isn’t traumatized in some way.
Does this now mean that we have to heal everything that ever happened to us before we can begin to work on our future and live the life we want?
I don’t think so.
The most successful people are full of fear.
But they decide that this will to hold them back from moving forward.
They are full of doubts.
But they give it their best shot and then fix what didn’t work.
They don’t wait until they are trauma free before they decide to take their life into their own hands.
You can do this, too.
Not in spite of what you have been through, but because of it.
The moment you decide to reach your goals and dreams, no matter what happened to you in the past is the moment that magic can do it’s thing.
Yes, please do make sure that you work on the trauma that has been holding you back for so long.
But you don’t have to work on every trauma, all the time, to get started on your path of success.
Instead, really think about which specific memories are really holding you back from being successful right now, and which ones can wait for later.
Be OK with being afraid.
Everybody is, when they first start walking on their powerful path.
Find like minded people who understand you and encourage you, without seeing you as damaged or broken.
You are not damaged and you are not broken.
You are a unique person with unique experiences, and you are about to make them valuable and relevant for others who need you.
Good for you!
The more you can see yourself as experienced instead of broken, the more you can see your clients in this light as well.
Don’t hide behind your trauma.
Decide what you want to do with it, honor what is really holding you back from moving forward and most of all:
Always ask yourself that question:
What am I going to do with this experience, how am I going to bless the world with what I have learned, after I am done healing this?
EFT is obviously a very powerful and effective tool to use to take the charge out of what is holding us back.
Don’t hide behind trauma.
You deserve to be and feel successful, not in spite, but because of your story!
If you’d like to set up a time to talk about EFT, please decide today and set up out time to talk!
