Why Clutter Holds Emotion

Our stuff holds energy. It holds memories. Think about why we buy souvenirs when going on vacation. We want  a physical manifestation of a fun time, a beautiful space. Or we want to have a. witness, some kind of proof that we were there, that we had that adventure. And we want to have an easy way to get back to that fun memory, just by looking at the souvenirs. Some people spend so much time in souvenir shops, that they miss out on the actual adventure.

But not all of our stuff holds good memories and energy. So often, it holds the energy of things we wanted to do or should have done, but didn’t. So instead of lifting us up, we feel guilty or not good enough.

Sometimes, our stuff reminds us of inner conflicts we have. Should I read this book or that? Should I toss the clothes that don’t fit or loose the extra pounds? Or it holds the energy of other people in our lives. Some of those energies might be hurtful or disrespectful to us. One of my clients complained that her husband threw all his dirty clothes in the floor in the bedroom. That was obviously a symptom of some kind of a bigger issue that they were dealing with and needed to be addressed.

Clutter has a voice and it talks to us. Sometimes it says “What the heck was I thinking when I spent money on this?”

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed because we have too many items and choices that we actually love and can’t decide which one to keep.

Sometimes we have this fear of missing out, of making a mistake, of regretting a decision we made.

It tells us that we are not good enough, that we should make a decision, that we are behind on something or that people or things other than ourselves are having way too much influence in our lives.

Office clutter tells us that we should take more action, so we feel always behind and afraid to make a mistake or miss out on something because we don’t know what’s in the piles of paper.

So no wonder that we get emotional and uncomfortable when we start decluttering.

But all of these emotions and conflicts can be successfully uncovered and resolved with EFT and the Ultimate Clutter Cleanse System. When we identify and address the emotional issues that are keeping us stuck and cluttered, and then implement a system that allows us to reclaim our living spaces in a way that works for us, life changes quickly and dramatically.
